San Diego Coalition for Peace and Justice

The San Diego Coalition for Peace and Justice formed in Septemberof 2001 to actively promote peace and oppose military violence.

We are composed of people from many progressive organizations, faiths, and political points of view.

Since September 11, 2001 the SDCPJ has sponsored teach-ins, vigils, and rallies aimed at opposing the repeal of civil and human rights, and ending the use of military force by the United States.

The coalition continues to speak to these issues as well as otherconcerns affecting social justice in the San Diego region.

Our founding principles are:

1. We condemn the attacks of September 11 and mourn the victims.

2. We call for an end to terrorism, not through war, but through international cooperation, justice and law.

3. We oppose anti-Islamic, anti-Arab, anti-immigrant, and all racial, ethnic, and religious bigotry and violence.

4. Fear of terrorism has led to attacks on our civil liberties; we call for their vigorous defense, for citizens and non-citizens alike.

5. The Bush administration is using the condemnation of the September 11 attacks and grief for the victims to justify a policy of military intervention anywhere in the world. We reject this cynical manipulation and the policy of imposing US will by force.
