Workshop: New Media, New War - Tools to promoting protest!

Consider this: There are well over 250 brands -- everything from sweatshop retailers like Walmart, to fast food like McDonalds, to the military like the U.S. Army -- on Pinterest. All representing and supporting the 1%!

Meanwhile, Instagram users are posting upwards of 40 million photos per day.

And though Tumblr's ad offering is still making baby steps, it hasn't stopped Wall Street from setting up shop.

The bottom line is that millions are using these tools to express themselves.

It's time to express our anti-drone messaging in combining the visual and social nature of these platforms because "average" ideas won't cut it anymore.

So in this workshop, you'll hear the creative best practices on using Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Ustream, Twitter, Mobli, Tumblr and more.

Workshop: The Changing Face of Empire

The Obama doctrine shifts global US military strategy to emphasize reliance on drones and 'special ops'. The new policies also project a pivot toward Asia, and increased US military intervention in Africa. These are course corrections to the failed 'boots on the ground' policies of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld years in Iraq and Afghanistan. What remains unchanged, however, is the goal of US policy – unchallenged military supremacy to further US corporate profits internationally. Join us in this workshop to discuss how the antiwar, peace, and justice movements should respond to drone warfare and the new Obama doctrine.

Workshop: Drones out of Africa and the Middle East!

Under the guise of a so-called "war on terror," the US and Europe are deploying drones as their latest weapon to carry out a vicious campaign of terrorism and occupation against the people of the Middle East and Africa. The US has also begun to use drones to monitor and terrorize the colonized African and Mexican communities inside the US. In reality, the use of drones is not an indication of the strength of imperialism, but a sign of its ever escalating crisis and decline. This workshop examines the use of drones from the perspective of the theory of African Internationalism.

Workshop: Israel, Drones and Elbit Systems

Are drones are the newest phase of asymmetrical warfare?
Why is the Middle East the biggest testing ground for drones?
Why are the U.S. and Israel at the forefront of the military application of drones? [Because at the center of both countries' policies is a central need to control people.]
Who profits from all this?
Why you can't be anti-drone and not care about Palestine.
If you want to discuss these questions and others, come to our workshop.
